The African-Australian Multicultural Employment and Youth Services (AAMEYS Group) is a not for profit group created to assist members of the African Australian community overcome specific obstacles faced by community members including promoting employment for disable members of our communities.
A range of reasons including cultural barriers prevent many members from accessing basic services that those in the wider community take for granted. These include education, health care, employment opportunity, legal advice and personal security. The AAMEYS Group will break this cycle by providing innovative solutions that prevent problems before they begin. This is done in partnership with Service Providers, New and emerging communities, and government departments by investing in the root causes of the problem such as addressing unemployment; family violence, violence against women; racism, drug and alcohol abuse, school drop-out etc and by creating solutions that are self sustaining and empowerment. The AAMEYS Group is heavily engaged with the community on a daily basis, as such they are able to convey the communities views in a constructive manner; such as empowering women and members with disability. This can also be done through political lobbying using the groups' extensive political and commercial connections. |
